STRING ENSEMBLE CAMP
For string students who can read music, this program will place students into groups with more than one student per part. This is designed to introduce students to the skills and experience of playing in a multi-part ensemble, while having the support of an instrumental section. In addition to daily coaching with our faculty in a string orchestra, students will also participate in smaller chamber ensembles and musicianship activities that build skills fundamental to playing chamber music (listening, sight-reading, communication, teamwork, etc.). The week culminates with a performance.
Repertoire is carefully selected to both challenge and inspire young players. Some music may be assigned and distributed prior to the beginning of camp and other music will be learned during the week. Students in Suzuki books 2-5 and up who are able to read music are encouraged to apply.
