STRING ENSEMBLE CAMP
For string students who can read music, this program will place students into groups with more than one student per part. This is designed to introduce students to the skills and experience of playing in a multi-part ensemble, while having the support of an instrumental section. In addition to daily coaching with our faculty in a string orchestra, students will also participate in smaller chamber ensembles and musicianship activities that build skills fundamental to playing chamber music (listening, sight-reading, communication, teamwork, etc.). The week culminates with a performance with adults invited. Students should bring a packed lunch to enjoy outside or in the case of intimate weather, we have plenty of space to spread out in our classrooms.
Repertoire is carefully selected to both challenge and inspire young players. Music will be assigned and distributed prior to the beginning of camp. Students in Suzuki books 2-5, learning to read music, and without previous chamber/ensemble experience are encouraged to apply.
Dates: Monday-Friday, August 26-30 from 10:00am-3:30pm at our Upper Westside location, 218 W 72nd St.
