We are excited to bring our popular Music & Art summer program to children ages 2 to 3.5 years during the school year, beginning this winter at our 72nd Street location! This two hour morning program is a gentle introduction to the routines and structure of preschool through an exploration of music, art, movement, and story, designed for young children to experience together with their adult caregivers. Classes are lead by our experienced early-childhood teachers who are also professional musicians.
Class Days and Times:
Our morning begins with free play with puzzles, books, building materials, and animals, followed by our Morning Circle with songs and rhymes. We then move into a 40 minute Music Class where children explore rhythm instruments and hear and touch string instruments, flute, guitar, and piano. After time for a snack and story, we have Creative Art. We explore a variety of materials including watercolor, chalk, tempura paint, glue, tape, and various types of paper and cardboard. We finish the morning with dancing, listening, and our Goodbye Circle.
Adult caregivers participate with children and share in the discovery and joy of exploring music and art together. Adults are also invited to have a turn with the instruments or participate in a simultaneous adult music class, so if you have every wanted to try the cello, here is your chance! *A note about separation: if you prefer to work toward gentle separation with your child, an adult may stay on site at the school once the child is settled in the class.
