Silver Music partners with preschool and elementary schools to bring thoughtful, developmentally informed music education into the school setting. Our partnerships are built on respect for each school’s philosophy, community, and scheduling needs.
Whether integrated into the school day or offered as an additional class, programs are designed to support children’s musical growth in ways that feel natural, consistent, and sustainable.
With more than two decades of early childhood teaching experience, Silver Music offers schools a trusted partner in music education. Our goal is to create musical experiences that feel like a natural extension of each school’s learning community.
Partnership Philosophy
Our partnership programs are designed to align with each school’s educational approach and culture while supporting children’s developmental stages.
We work closely with school leadership to ensure that music programming:
- Aligns with the school’s philosophy and classroom environment
- Supports the developmental needs of young children
- Integrates smoothly into the rhythm of the school day or enrichment offerings
- Provides consistent and meaningful musical experiences
Our teaching draws from early childhood pedagogy and is influenced by Suzuki philosophy and Dalcroze Eurhythmics, emphasizing listening, movement, repetition, and embodied learning.
Through consistent musical experiences, children develop:
- Strong listening and attention skills
- Coordination and rhythmic awareness
- Confidence participating individually and in groups
- A positive and lasting relationship with music
Music becomes part of the child’s weekly rhythm, supporting both musical and overall development.
Partnership Models
Silver Music offers three flexible partnership formats which may be implemented individually or in combination depending on the needs of each school community. Some schools choose to integrate music into the regular school day, while others offer music as an additional enrichment opportunity for interested families.
Partnership formats include: In-School Music Programs, Classroom Visits & Small Group Music, and After-School Music Programs.
Each partnership is developed collaboratively to ensure that programming fits naturally within the school environment and supports both students and teachers.
In-School Music Programs
In-school music experiences bring Silver Music’s Ready, Set, Play! curriculum directly into the school day. Programs may take place as a weekly music class for an entire classroom or age group, or as a musical experience woven into the existing flow of the school day.
Visits from a Silver Music teacher may take place once or multiple times per week for the full school year or for a defined period of time as a musical residency (for example, a 3–4 week series of visits).
Programming and scheduling are tailored to the needs of each school community and teaching approach.
Educational Approach
In-school Ready, Set, Play! classes emphasize:
- Singing and tonal development
- Rhythm activities and movement
- Listening exercises and pattern recognition
- Hands-on exploration of child-sized instruments
- Repetition that builds confidence and familiarity
Through consistent exposure, children develop comfort participating in both individual and group musical activities.
How In-School Integration Works
Ready, Set, Play! may be offered:
- During designated activity periods or transitions
- As a scheduled music class for a full classroom or age group
- As a flexible option within the school’s existing daily structure
In settings where participation is optional, children naturally gravitate toward music based on interest. This choice-based approach supports autonomy, focus, and genuine enjoyment.
Classroom Visits & Small Group Music
Small Group music experiences offer a flexible approach for schools seeking more focused musical interaction during the school day. In this model, a Silver Music teacher works with a small or rotating group of students during times such as work periods, activity blocks, or choice-based learning periods.
Visits may take place once or multiple times per week or for a defined residency period. Programming is designed to support both the needs of the school and the interests of participating children.
Educational Approach
Small Group Ready, Set, Play! sessions draw on the same pedagogical foundations as in-school programs. Children benefit from:
- Closer interaction with the teacher
- Individual turns with child-sized string instruments
- Focused rhythm and early note-reading activities
- Development of listening skills and coordination
- Opportunities to explore instruments in a small-group setting
This model supports children who show particular interest in music while remaining accessible and low-pressure. In some open classroom environments, all children may be exposed to music in the shared space, whether or not they actively choose to participate.
How Small Group Sessions Work
Small Group sessions may take place:
- During work periods or activity centers
- As part of a rotating enrichment schedule
- With consistent or rotating groups of children
- As a short-term residency or ongoing program
Children gradually become comfortable working with instruments and musical materials, building a strong foundation for future musical learning.
After-School Music Programs
Silver Music offers Ready, Set, Play! programs as after-school or extended-day enrichment options for schools seeking high-quality music education beyond the regular school schedule.
After-school classes provide additional time for children to explore music with greater focus and independence.
Classes may be offered once or multiple times per week and are designed to complement the school’s daytime curriculum while allowing deeper engagement with musical concepts.
Educational Approach
After-school Ready, Set, Play! classes allow children to:
- Explore rhythm and tonal patterns in greater depth
- Engage more independently with musical materials
- Take individual turns with instruments
- Develop early technical awareness through guided play
- Build confidence in preparation for future instrumental study
After-school programs often serve as a natural bridge between general music exposure and more focused instrumental learning.
How After-School Programs Work
After-school Ready, Set, Play! classes:
- Take place on-site at the school
- Are optional for interested families
- May meet weekly or multiple times per week
- Provide a consistent and engaging musical experience
Classes include rhythm activities, early note reading and writing, singing, movement, and opportunities for individual turns with string instruments.
